Converting the garage into a home office starts with making sure that the garage is actually usable as a space for more permanent living. Consider the flooring of the garage and if it is plain concrete (which is most often the case) the use floor tiles carpet tiles or other cozier flooring surface to make sure that the home office feels comfortable during all seasons.
With the garage cleaned out there was now floor space. We bought an extra shelf from the container store and filled it with boxes that were once obstructing a clear path across the garage.
Adaptive reuse does much more than just save historic buildings and cut back on construction costs and wastage of resources. It is undoubtedly the biggest reason for the newfound love of all things ‘modern industrial’.
Pots were placed out in the driveway. This made them easier to load into cars once they sold. My aunt even put some faux greenery in one of her pots to show shoppers just how beautiful it could be when filled with plant life. A nice touch don’t you think?!
The resultant edifice allows for ample natural ventilation and plays off the sun in the sky to create many wonderful hues inside. A parking garage that looks more appealing than many modern homes and villas we stumble across!
